Privacy Policy
Your photos and your location stay on your phone.
Meridian has no account, no servers of its own, and no analytics. It cannot see your photos or where you took them, because nothing is ever sent to us — there is no “us” to send it to. Below is the precise, unmarketed version, including the two cases where the app does reach the network.

What stays on your device
- Your photos and videos. Captures are written straight to your device gallery. They are never uploaded, copied, or transmitted anywhere.
- Location in your photos. Your coordinates are written into each photo's own EXIF metadata, stored inside the image file on your device. If you share that photo, the location travels with the file — that is the point of the app, and it is entirely under your control.
- Your settings. Stamp style, capture preferences and toggles are saved in the app's private storage on the device.
Permissions, and why each one exists

The only two times Meridian touches the network
We would rather over-disclose than let you discover these yourself. Neither one sends your photos, and neither is tied to any identity or account.
Map tiles, if you turn on the Map Camera stamp
The Map Camera stamp draws a small map of where you are standing. To do that, the app downloads map tiles from tile.openstreetmap.org, operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Requesting a tile necessarily reveals the approximate area you are in to that server.
This is off by default. It only happens if you select the Map Camera stamp style and enable its Map field. If you never turn it on, Meridian makes no network requests at all. Tiles are cached in memory, and a failure to reach the server is harmless — the stamp simply renders without a map. OpenStreetMap's handling of those requests is covered by the OSMF privacy policy.
Turning coordinates into a place name
To display a readable address or plus code instead of raw numbers, Meridian asks Android's built-in geocoder to convert your coordinates into a place name. That is a standard operating-system service, and on most phones the system resolves it online using its own provider — meaning your coordinates are handled by that platform service, not by us.
Meridian never receives, stores or logs the result anywhere but on your device. If you prefer to avoid this entirely, remove the Address field from your stamp.
What Meridian never does
- No account, sign-in, or email address is ever requested.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or usage statistics.
- No advertising, and no advertising or tracking SDKs of any kind.
- No selling or sharing of personal information — none is collected to sell.
- No profile, identifier, or advertising ID is created or read.
- No background location. The app cannot see where you are when it is not open.
You do not have to take this on trust. With the Map Camera stamp left off, Meridian makes no network requests at all — you can confirm that yourself with any network monitor on your phone, without believing a word on this page.
Your controls
- Strip location when sharing. Meridian can remove location metadata from a copy before you share it — and it genuinely removes it, rather than hiding it.
- Turn the stamp off. The visible stamp is optional, and the master image is never modified by it.
- Revoke permissions. Android Settings → Apps → Meridian → Permissions. Denying location simply means photos are saved without coordinates.
- Delete everything. Uninstalling removes the app and all its settings. Your photos remain in your gallery, where they have always been, and are yours to delete.
Children
Meridian is a general-purpose camera and is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date above, and the change will be visible in this site's public commit history.
